If you’re like me, by now you’re probably ready to trade in summers lazy last days to breathe in the crisp smells of autumn…and everything pumpkin spice of course!
It’s back-to-school season and whether you’re a student or not, there’s something about September that feels like a fresh new beginning. Even though we make our big resolutions in January, right now is the perfect time great to take another look at our nutrition and fitness goals. Revamp your routine knowing that a few simple but important changes goes far in supporting your health and wellness!
National Education Cholesterol Education Month
September also happens to be National Education Cholesterol Education Month, so don’t forget to see your doctor or health professional to get your cholesterol levels checked.
If you do have high cholesterol this can lead to plaque build-up in your arteries, which raises the risk of heart disease and stroke.
This month I encourage all my subscribers to take a few healthy steps towards lowering your cholesterol!
What you eat plays a big role . . .
What you eat plays a big role, so it’s time to make some smart food choices. Eating a balanced diet including whole grains, lean meats, seafood, whole grains, and fruits and vegetables is a big step in the right direction!
Don’t forget to reduce your intake of foods high in saturated fats – mostly found in red meat and full-fat dairy products.
If you happen to be looking for the perfect juice to help support your heart health and lower cholesterol, I recommend trying my Pure-Passion juice.
Cholesterol and Heart Healthy Pure Passion Juice
It’s tangy, lip smacking ingredients include apple, carrot, ginger, lemon, pear, turmeric and zucchini. Along with anti-inflammatory benefits and increased circulation, these foods also have cholesterol lowing ability as well.
Apples and pears contain polyphenols, fiber and phytosterols — all of which aid in lowering cholesterol levels.
Carrots are a great source of beta carotene, fiber, vitamin K1, potassium, and antioxidants. The fibre in carrots, pectin, also lower cholesterol and recent studies are suggesting that ginger is cholesterol-friendly as well.
Fresh, tangy lemon juice is high in vitamin C and antioxidants and is widely used as a natural aid in reducing high cholesterol.
