The Single Key to Finishing Strong
Motivation is at an all-time high at the beginning of a challenge but, humans are emotional creatures and our feelings toward things change with time. We’ve started this challenge now it’s time to finish strong. Read further to learn the single most important key to finishing a challenge strongly.
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve talked about knowing and remembering your “why”, accountability partners, goals, journals, and fitness trackers. While all those steps are important there is one element that takes priority in my opinion. That single most important element is your “What”. “What drives you”??? What makes you want to work on your “why”? When you determine that, you have found the key to your success.
Many of us have reasons why we need to eat right, exercise, or stress less, but our emotions can sometimes cloud our judgment causing us to lose focus on our “why”. Accountability partners can help us, but the truth of the matter is that they can only encourage, and we must be receptive to what they are saying for their encouragement to work.
Establishing goals, writing in journals and using fitness trackers are all excellent tools as well but often goals get put on hold, journals and fitness trackers are pushed aside when motivation is lost.
Intrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic motivation is a behavior you possess inside of you, it is what gives you satisfaction. A great example is the feeling of accomplishment when you complete a task. It could be a project at home, or at work, or something like running a marathon. A lot of people run marathons for a sense of accomplishment or to raise money and awareness for a charity they are passionate about.
So, when it comes to finishing strong in a fitness challenge think about what gives you a feeling of accomplishment or really piques your interest and creates a sparkle in your eye. Some of us are competitive, maybe you want to be in the top, or you just want to finish because you made the commitment to do it. Whatever motivates you is what I want you to think of when finishing a challenge. Including Pure-trition’s #movewithme challenge. Find that one thing and really focus on it like so you can go the distance and finish strong in your challenge.
