Understanding The Relationship between High Blood Pressure and Weight Gain

I recently conducted a Heart Health survey that revealed a significant interest in learning how to manage blood pressure with natural relief methods.

That same survey revealed 94% of people are struggling with weight loss. The results led me to share a brief overview of the relationship between high blood pressure and weight gain.

Several factors play a role in increased blood pressure such as; age, genetics, diet, exercise, lifestyle habits, and stress to name a few.

When it comes to the relationship between weight gain and blood pressure, our hearts work harder as additional weight is added.

When the heart works harder it pumps more resulting in increased blood pressure numbers.

This increase can be noticed in as little as a 5lb weight gain especially if it is belly fat.

Diet

The Standard American Diet lacks fruits and vegetables. It is instead filled with packaged, processed, and prepared foods loaded with salt, fat, and sugar.

The consumption of these foods often leads to obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes.

Increasing your fruit and vegetable intake can help prevent, manage and in some cases reverse these medical conditions.

Exercise

Cardiovascular exercise is an excellent way to strengthen both your heart and your lungs.

According to a study in the British Journal Sports Medicine, exercise can sometimes even prove to be as beneficial as antihypertensive medication.

While there are no official studies showing a comparison of the effectiveness of exercise versus blood pressure medication, numerous individuals have been able to successfully reduce their blood pressure in this manner along with other healthy lifestyle changes.

Lifestyle Habits, Mindset & Stress

While each of these can be the cause of high blood pressure, drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and stress can also be affiliated with food and weight gain.

A lot of people drink and eat unhealthy foods at some point during or after drinking.

People will also smoke cigarettes along with drinking. Those who quit drinking and/or smoking often turn to food as an alternative.

People also turn to food as a way of coping with stress, sometimes without even realizing it.

With proper diet, exercise, lifestyle changes, dedication, hard work, and proper support; both blood pressure and weight can be reduced.

I have opened several slots for the next two weeks. Book a free 50-minute call with me to discuss this in greater detail and set up a strategy to help you better manage your blood pressure and lose weight.
